Hello! Happy that you are here to find out more about who I am. First of all, my name is Jill and I am so excited to start and share this blog with you!! Let’s see, where do I start??? It seems fitting to tell you that I have always been part of the “politically correct” business world up until about four years ago. My son (only child) was a freshman in High School and we (my husband and I) were at a point where I had an option to enjoy those years or keep working in the dead end, mind numbing cubicle. Easy choice, right? Yep, it was!! I have enjoyed being at home when he leaves for and returns from school. He’ll admit it now…he has enjoyed it too! And of course, I think it’s because I’m a fun, cool mom! I have a degree in Business with a minor in Marketing and have played the game of searching for the right career choice. It has ranged from retail, insurance, advertising, being a corporate buyer and then settling into telecommunications for 12 years. Sounds crazy doesn’t it?! It definitely has been a ride and after enjoying these last four years of being a full-time stay at home mom, I’m ready for a new adventure! An adventure that I’m passionate about and don’t dread getting out of bed for! I’m sure all of us can relate to this in some way! This is when it all began!!
January, 2017, I took the plunge in becoming a business owner, Not 2 Shabby Chic. I’m specializing in home décor, home decorating and DIY home projects. I have always loved fashion, makeup, photography and home decorating but for right now, my posts will focus on home decorating. That could change though 🙂 In February, I became a booth owner at a local store specializing in antiques and vintage décor. In April, I will have a second booth in which it will specialize in more primitive décor. I am so thrilled and blessed to have this opportunity!
My decorating style is pretty eclectic although I do love the modern farmhouse vibe that is popular right now. I have always been one to buy something if I liked it (within price range, of course) and then worry about where I’d put it later. It seems to work and can’t wait to share my home and styling tips with you. I do a lot of junking and antiquing! I love to shop in mainstream retail as well and there are so many out there anymore that it is easy to incorporate that style with vintage and antique treasures.
We bought our current house in 2011 and have basically transformed the entire inside of the home to make it our own! I will share transformation pictures of the before and after. It is a daily work in progress but I love doing it so that makes it worthwhile. I love my home but more importantly, my family and Jesus Christ come first. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to sharing insights, mistakes and fun with you!!!
